Aftercare Instructions
For showers resealed with the Platinum Seal Epoxy System
Purpose
This document is issued upon completion of your shower re-seal. It outlines the mandatory aftercare steps required to protect the epoxy system during curing and to ensure long-term performance. Failure to follow these instructions may void warranty conditions.
1. Curing Period (First 24 Hours)
- Do not use: The shower must not be used for the first 24 hours post completion.
- Ventilation: Keep the bathroom well ventilated (open window or exhaust fan) to assist curing.
- Hands off: Do not touch, wipe, or disturb the epoxy joints or silicone seals during this period.
2. First 7 Days
- No harsh cleaners: Avoid bleach, acidic, or abrasive products.
- No pressure: Do not place mats, baskets, or heavy items on the shower floor.
- Gentle rinse: Only rinse with water if cleaning is required.
3. Daily Use & Cleaning
- Rinse & Wipe: After each use, rinse with clean water and use a squeegee or soft cloth to wipe down walls and floor.
- Weekly Clean: Use a mild vinegar and water solution or pH‐neutral bathroom cleaner to prevent soap scum and mould.
- Avoid Damage:
- No hard‐bristle brushes, scourers, or abrasive pads.
- No harsh chemicals (bleach, ammonia, strong acids, or alkaline cleaners).
- Do not use high‐pressure cleaners or steam systems on epoxy joints.
4. Additional Notes
- After re-seal, a light grout haze may develop over sections of the tile. This is normal and can be wiped off with a damp cloth 24 hours after re-seal.
Important Notice
Following these instructions is essential to maintain the integrity of your new epoxy re-seal. Platinum Seal cannot be held liable for leaks or damage caused by:
- Shower use within 24 hours of completion,
- Cleaning with harsh or abrasive products,
- Structural or plumbing faults unrelated to the reseal.
