Client Background
A tenant in a Woolloongabba apartment contacted Platinum Seal after water began leaking through the bathroom wall into their bedroom. The property manager needed the issue resolved immediately to prevent further moisture damage and to comply with strata maintenance requirements. As the apartment was newly renovated, a full tile replacement was not an option.
The Problem
During inspection, our team identified several problem areas that had compromised the waterproofing system:
Cracked grout lines around the shower floor and wall joints
Peeling and discoloured silicone along the corners and screen base
Moisture readings indicating water trapped behind wall tiles
Visible mould along lower grout lines
Like many modern Woolloongabba apartment bathrooms, the original grout had become porous within a few years, allowing water to escape and track behind tiles.
Our Solution
Our licensed technicians completed a same-day epoxy shower re-seal, providing a long-term waterproofing solution without removing tiles.
Process:
Strip-Out: Removed all failing grout and silicone to expose the bare tile joints.
Sanitisation: Cleaned and treated all surfaces with anti-mould solution.
Epoxy Application: Installed high-performance Mapei epoxy grout across all joints for a watertight seal.
Finishing: Applied flexible, mould-resistant silicone around perimeters and fixtures for a clean, modern look.
The leaking shower repair in Woolloongabba was completed within one day, and the bathroom was ready for use by the next morning.
The Results
✅ Leak completely sealed — no more water penetration or wall damage
✅ Mould eliminated, leaving a hygienic and fresh finish
✅ No tiles replaced, saving time and cost for the owner
✅ Strata compliance achieved with full photographic documentation
